The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is a collection of 195 Sanskrit sutras (aphorisms) on the philosophy of Yoga. The Yoga Sutra was compiled sometime between 500 BCE and 400 CE by the sage Patanjali. The Book is divided into 4 parts as Samadhi, Sadhana , Vibhuti and Kaivalya pada respectively. In the Yoga tradition, Patanjali is a revered name. Patanjali was a sage in India and author of a number of Sanskrit works. The greatest of these are the Yoga Sutras and Mahabhasya. He is the propounder of Yoga Philosophy.
