The course will cover the तिङन्त-प्रक्रिया – Derivation of forms of Dhaatus in the four saarvadhaatuka lakaaras (लट्, लोट्, लङ्, विधिलिङ्). The methodology followed is the one pioneered by Smt. Pushpa Dikshit. The focus will be on deriving the forms relying mainly on the Ashtadhyayi, and understanding the organisation of prakaranas in the Ashtadhyayi.

  • Interest in learning the तिङन्तप्रक्रिया and willingness to devote atleast 3-4 hours per week for self-study in addition to class time.

The methodology followed in this course is the one pioneered by Smt. Pushpa Dikshit. The focus will be on deriving the forms relying mainly on the Ashtadhyayi, and understanding the organisation of prakaranas in the Ashtadhyayi.

This course covers the formation process of verbs when it is followed by four Sarvadhatuka lakaras such as लट्, लोट्, लङ् and विधिलिङ्.

There will be 6 Chapters.
1.विषयप्रवेशः – Introduction to the Vyakarana parampara, basic 27 technical terms of Vyakarana essential for तिङन्तप्रक्रिया, including itsamjna, division of svaras, Sthana-prayatna elaboration for all letters, concept of savarna, vruddhi, guna, samyoga, anunasika, samprasarana, lopa etc and also sheds light on some परिभाषा sootraas.

2.धातुपाठः – Sheds light on the concept of Dhaatus, Lakaraas, तिङ्-Pratyayas, Purusha-vachana-Pada system, Vikarana pratyayas and Sarvadhatuka-aardhadhaatukaas.

3.सिंहावलोकनम् – This chapter covers the basic procedure to form a तिङन्त including building and function of affixes, crude base of verb technically called as अङ्ग and the Sandhis.

4.भ्वादिगणस्य धातूनां सार्वधातुकलकारेषु रूपसिद्धिः – Introduces to all types of functions of अङ्ग of भ्वादि set of dhatus and the various functions that take place in 4 saarvadhatukalakaras particularly in Bhvaadi set of dhatus.

5.चुरादि-तुदादि-दिवादिगणानां धातूनां रूपसिद्धिः – Covers the various functions that occur in 3 ganas such as Churadi, tudadi and Divadi.

6.अनदन्तगणानां धातूनां रूपसिद्धिः –This chapter uncovers the special functions that take place in 6 different Ganas such as Kryaadi, Svaadi, tanaadi, rudhaadhi, juhotyaadi and adaadi.
