Madhaviya Shankara Digvijaya is one of the most popular works which describes the life of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Composed by Sri. Sri. Vidyaranya, 12th Jagadguru of the Sringeri Sharadapeetham, it is a vast text in 16 sargas (chapters) and has a total of 1843 shlokas elucidating the life, works and philosophy of the Acharya. It has detailed descriptions of the debates (vaadas) that Sri Shankaracharya had with other scholars.
With the blessings of the Jagadgurus, veteran scholar Vid. Mahabaleshwar Bhat, an aasthaana-vidvan of the Sringeri matha, has condensed the Shankara Digvijaya by selecting the most important verses which highlight the significant events in the life of Sri Shankaracharya. This condensed text, titled “Sri Shankara Digvijaya Saara”, has 214 verses. Chanting these verses helps devotees to contemplate the greatness of the Acharya and his life.
On the auspicious occasion of the approaching Shankara Jayanthi, Vyoma Samskrta Pathasala is happy to launch this course, through which devotees would be able to chant the verses of “Sri Shankara Digvijaya Saara” and offer them as a samarpanam at the lotus feet of the Acharya.
