Description

ऋग्वेदसूक्तानि

Ṛgvedasūktāni

This is a set of 6 audio lectures in simple Samskrita, in which Dr. Jayaraman Mahadevan explains the meaning of six sūktas from the Ṛgveda, with insights from the sāyaṇabhāṣya.

Following are the sūktas covered in the course –

१. अग्निसूक्तम् (agnisūktam)
२. विष्णुसूक्तम् (viṣṇusūktam)
३. इन्द्रसूक्तम् (indrasūktam)
४. रुद्रसूक्तम् (rudrasūktam)
५. वरुणसूक्तम् (varuṇasūktam)
६. पुरुषसूक्तम् (puruṣasūktam)

These sūktas are prescribed in the syllabus of Samskrita MA in many universities including the SASTRA university. These lectures will help the students who are preparing for those examinations.

PDF files are also provided with each sūkta. It contains the text of the mantras along with the commentary of Sāyaṇācārya. Portions of the commentary have been highlighted in Yellow. These highlighted portions are words of the mantra as discussed in the commentary. This will help the learner to make out the words of the source text and its commentary. As exceptions to this, In Agnisūkta some portions of the commentary have also been highlighted in yellow and in Puruṣasūkta couple of quotations have been highlighted in green colour. These will help the learners appreciate some important points in the commentary.
