Smt. Brunda Karanam pursued her study of Saṃskṛtam, Bhagavadgītā, and various Stotras, under the tutelage of revered Guru Ananthalakshmi Natarajan. She is an ardent devotee of Jagadguru of Sringeri , Mahasannidhanam and has rendered Sanskrit dramas, music programmes, etc in the annual visit to Sringeri during cāturmāsyam and has always got the appreciation & blessings of Jagadgurus.
Smt. Brunda started her journey at the age of 4 in Gita Govinda Samskritha Sangha. The turning point in Brunda’s life came when she was taken to Smt. Ananthalakshmi Natarajan by her parents to learn Saṃskṛtam. Brunda continued her studies under Smt. Ananthalakshmi Natarajan at Gita Govinda Samskruta Sangha, Bengaluru for 20+ years. She has secured a distinction in all the Sanskrit exams conducted by Surasaraswati Sabha, Sringeri and Bhagavadgītā exams conducted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
She has won several competitions, including the state level Bhagavadgītā competition organised by Chinmaya Mission.
She has been involved in teaching Bhagavadgītā, ślokas and Saṃskṛtam for around 14 years. She has trained students for basic Sanskrit courses and exams conducted by Sri Surasaraswathi Sabha, Samskrita Bharati and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. She has participated in a number of Sanskrit plays including Mugdhakuntalam, Jīvanmuktikalyāṇa-nāṭakam, Sakhyam, Kaṭhopaniṣat, Gītopadeśa. She has been actively involved in organising śloka chanting competitions. She is trained in Carnatic vocal music by Vidushi Rupa Sridhar of Ranjani Institute of Music.
Smt. Brunda is a lawyer by profession. A graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, she also holds a BCL degree from the University of Oxford, UK and an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, USA.
